Fall Newsletter 2021

Happy Fall and Happy Harvest Time!

On the West Coast of Canada where I live in Sechelt, BC, the fall rains have started! I am “Singing in the Rain” because we had a very hot, dry summer! Our forests and gardens really need the rain.

There were so many wildfires in BC this summer that some families had to evacuate or leave their homes to stay elsewhere until it was safe to return. At my cabin on Okanagan Lake near Vernon, the air was very smoky as the fires were in the forests across the lake. We were not in any danger, but we had to come home to Sechelt, where the air was clearer.  I felt very sorry for anyone living close to the fires. We have excellent firefighters; and with the fall rains, the fires are no longer a threat. Families are now returning to their homes. But some families lost their homes and belongings, so their neighbors and our government are helping them to recover from their loss. Our communities and friends are so important in times of need. Kindness and caring will help heal their loss.

Welcome Fall!

Fall is my favorite season! Time for new beginnings, going back to school, making new friends, harvesting our fruits and vegetables.  I will soon return to my cabin in Vernon to pick apples and plums to preserve them for the winter. Which is your favourite season?

Here is the Autumn verse from my song, “Hello Winter”, on “Diamonds and Dragons”.

Hello Autumn - Bear Holding Maple Leaf Standing Under a Tree with Leaves Falling

Hello Autumn, how are you today?
I’m so glad that you have come my way
Hello Autumn, say, you’re looking fine
Let’s go running through the park and find a tree to climb

We can gather up the apples, make an apple pie
Fly our kites, swirling in the sky
Dress up for Halloween, then go “Trick or Treat”
You can be a Sasquatch with big, enormous feet!

Winter, Springtime, Summer or Fall
Which one is your favourite?
I think I like them all!

Charlotte Diamond's Animal Friends - A Collection of Songs

I am very excited about this book as I always wanted children and families to be able to read and sing my songs. The illustrations by Eunji Jung are beautiful and fun!

We Need Water

For our amazing animals, we need to protect our forests, lakes, streams and oceans, where they live.  Water is so important and every drip/drop counts! So don’t waste the water!  This summer, we used rain barrels and saved the water from our showers, baths and dish washing to water our garden and trees.  Have fun with this song, “We Need Water” from “Charlotte Diamond’s World”.  Also on iTunes and Spotify.

Wash Your Hands (to the tune of "Octopus (Slippery Fish)")

(To the tune of “Octopus (Slippery Fish)”)

Wash your hands, wash your hands,
With slippery soap and water.
Top and bottom, through your fingers
Don’t forget your wrists.

Wash your hands, wash your hands
With slippery soap and water.
Lots of bubbles, no more troubles
Wash them down the drain! Gulp, Gulp, Gulp!
